Kyna Fletcher
Program Director

Kyna Fletcher has a background in Sport Administration, Recreation Programming, and Coaching. Prior to her move to Phoenix, she spent six years as the  Executive Director for another Provincial Sport Organization. As a volunteer, coach and administrator in Artistic gymnastics, Kyna has been involved in the sport world for many years. Kyna is a Level 4 Certified Coach, Chairperson  for the Women’s Program Assembly of Gymnastics Canada and the current Provincial Coach for Gymnastics BC.



Igor Chirkov

Originally from Kazakhstan, has coached many high performance athletes during his 6 years in Canada. He is a Certified Level 3 Coach and a former Russion National Team Member. Igor joined Phoenix in February of 2008.


 

Connie Sherman
Recreational Director

Recreational Director Connie Sherman has been coaching recreational and competitive gymnastics for 20 years. She is NCCP Level 3 Women’s Artistic certified and Level 3 Trampoline Certified. As Recreational Director, Connie oversees the staffing and programming of our popular Little People Gymnastics Programs as well as our School-aged and Interclub Gymnastics Programs.
 

Joanne Dodge
Business Director

Joanne joined the staff of Phoenix Gymnastics in 1998. Her background in business administration and not for profit organizations has contributed to establishing Phoenix as a leader in the business of gymnastics. She was instrumental in managing the transition into our new facilites in the Millennium Sport Centre and upgrading our technology to meet the demands of our growing membership. Joanne has served on several community boards and works closely with the Phoenix Board of Directors.

Hayley Gordon
Communications & Facility Use Coordinator

Hayley joined Phoenix Gymnastics in 2002. A former gymnast, Hayley trained at the Terrace Peaks Gymnastics Club.  Hayley has a varied background including working in politics for a Member of the Legislative Assembly and traveling as a flight attendant with Air Canada. Hayley's educational background in English and creative writing serve her well as editor of all Phoenix membership newsletters. Hayley's duties aslo include coordinating facility use and rentals.


Fran Tanner
Office & Member Services Coordinator

Fran joined the Phoenix administrative team in 2004. Prior to joining Phoenix, Fran trained as a Library Technician and worked in the Financial Services industry for 10 years. She has dedicated much of her spare time to volunteer endeavours such as helping to establish a Montessori Elementary Program in the Vancouver School Board system and the Cranberry Commons Co-housing Community in Burnaby. Fran is well known to our members as a welcoming and supportive first encounter with the club.

Phoenix Coaches
Phoenix Program coaches are all NCCP and first aid certified. Some have additional certification in coaching Trampoline and/or Pre-school gymnastics. Ongoing in service training is provided throughout the year. Phoenix has a very active Coach-in-Training program, which provides opportunities for older gymnasts to continue to stay active in their chosen sport and to share their skills with young gymnasts.
