The Regional Program offers a level of gymnastics that fits between our recreational and competitive programs. It is comprised of the Pre-Interclub, Interclub and Excelclub groups and focuses on individual effort and performance.
Entry into all groups are by assessment and invitation. Assessments are done in June of every year . The season runs from mid-August to June, and a commitment for the entire season is expected of all groups. All groups train between four and eight hours per week during the school year. Two weeks of summer training is included at the start of the season, however, most holidays are non-training days for most groups.
Program goals include:
Pre-Interclub Girls & Boys train four hours per week. The focus is on building strength and flexibility while learning basic skills. Athletes participate in three in-house events throughout the year which assess their physical ability and skills without individual ranking or displayed scores. They also perform a group routine at Gymnaestrada and at the Phoenix Year End Show.
Interclub Girls & Boys train between four and six hours per week. The focus of these groups is learning to perform and build confidence while continuing to build strength, flexibility and gymnastics skills. These groups attend competition-style events where they perform routines and receive participatory awards and certificates for their efforts. They also perform a group routine at Gymnaestrada and at the Phoenix Year End Show.
Excelclub is for girls in high school (grade 8-12). This group trains 8 hours a week and will compete in provincial level 1 and 2 competitions in and around the lower mainland. They will perform a group routine at gymnaestrada and at the Phoenix year end show. They also may be involved in competitions between high schools in a high school gymnastics category.
