The Recreational Program

Fun with a Purpose! Vancouver Phoenix Gymnastics offers a variety of recreational programs designed to promote self-confidence, friendship and social skills. Gymnastics helps to build physical literacy through skill development, agility, coordination, balance, strength and flexibility.  Gymnasts benefit from the challenges fostered by the sport, enhancing their confidence, sense of commitment and attentiveness.

2013-14 Fall, Winter, Spring  registration

General registration begins Tuesday, June 18, 9:00 am

 

 

 Current Families (who have a 2012-13 Membership): If you wish to register online, enter your email address and click “forgot password.”  You will receive an email within minutes, with  instructions to login .  Only families who are current members will have access in this manner.  The system will recognize the email address you have in our records.

New Families:  If you wish to register online, you will need to create a family profile first, once your family profile is created, add your child then choose your class.

Summer 2013 registration is ongoing

To  register online, flip through 2013 SUMMER CLASSES & CAMPS Recreational Brochure,  find the class and click on the class to proceed with registration. You may also register by phone 604-737-7693 or visit us and register in person.

Spring 2013

Classes are  running –last week of classes are June 16th to 22nd.

Policies

PAYMENT:  Full payment is due for Fall fees upon registration, Winter fees on October 21, 2013 and Spring fees on January 21, 2014.  Fees will be charged automatically on the above dates. Please remember to keep your credit card information up-to-date. A $10 fee applies when credit card charges are declined. A $25.00 fee applies to NSF cheques.

REGISTRATION FEE:  Each participant is required to purchase an individual Registration Fee (GBC insurance/Phoenix membership).  Payment is due upon registration and is non-refundable.  Full Year Membership: $40 available June 11, 2013 – February 9, 2014; valid September 1, 2013 to August 31, 2014. Half Year Membership: $25 available February 10, 2014 – June 1, 2014; valid from March 1, 2014 to August 31, 2014.

TRANSFERS:  Transfers are permitted until the halfway point of the session. A $10.00 fee applies.

CANCELLATIONS:  Should a class be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment or weather, you will be notified and will receive full credit for that class. We do not offer make-ups for classes missed due to illness or vacation. We recommend that your child remain in the same class level for all 3 sessions – Fall, Winter and Spring.

REFUNDS:  Class withdrawal before the session begins: 80% refund or 100% credit of the class fee. Class withdrawal within the first two weeks of the session: 100% credit of the pro-rated balance, no refunds. Class withdrawal beyond the second week of the session: no credits or refunds. In the case of injury or illness, with a doctor’s note: credit or refund of the pro-rated balance. The Registration Fee is non-refundable.

QUIET ZONE:  Noise is distracting and can be dangerous to athletes training in the gym. Our lobby and mezzanine areas are quiet zones. Please keep conversation levels to a minimum, and encourage your children to sit quietly while waiting for their class to start.

GYM ATTIRE:  Please wear a bodysuit or tank top/t-shirt and shorts/leggings (avoid loose clothing) and bare feet in the gym (no socks). Girls are encouraged to wear their hair tied back and off their face. For safety and security, please do not bring jewelry to the gym.

 

PARENT PARTICIPATION CLASSES

Parent & Kid Drop-in (6 months–12 years)
Supervised “free play” in the gym! $12 per child*

Wiggles and Giggles (6–14 months)
This program is designed to promote gross motor activities for children that are sitting on their own.

Rock ’n Rollers (12 months–2 year olds)
An introduction to structured activities and basic movement skills for children who are walking independently.

Jumping Jellybeans (2–3 year olds)
A fast-paced class that encourages jumping, running, climbing and having fun in a safe environment.

 

PRESCHOOL CLASSES

Tiny Tumblers (3–4 year olds)
For children ready to participate independently and follow directions while learning basic gymnastic skills safely.

Leapin’ Lemurs (4–5 year olds)
A fast paced, action packed class with the focus on gymnastics basics, progressions and fun.

Kinder Kangaroos (5–6 year olds)
Participants learn to roll, swing, balance, handstand, and cartwheel.

ADULT & TEEN CLASSES

Teen Gym (co-ed 13 to 18 years)
Geared toward teens who want time in the gym to work on new skills and to perfect old ones. This is a fantastic way to stay in shape, meet friends and build confidence and self-esteem.

Adult Gym (18 years & up)
Classes increase strength and flexibility with an emphasis on fun and skill development. Participants can work at their own level and pace. It is never too late to enjoy the benefits of gymnastics!

SCHOOL-AGED CLASSES

Girls Achievement(grades 1–7)
Our 9-level progress report system uses the 4 Women’s Olympic apparatus: vault, bars, beam and floor.

Advanced Girls Achievement (Level 6–9)
A twice a week class for girls that want more challenge. Girls must have completed Level 5 to register for this class.

Boys Achievement  (grades 1–7)
An 8-level report card system using the 6 Men’s Olympic apparatus: vault, pommel horse, rings, floor, parallel bars and high-bar.

Trampoline and Tumbling  (grades 1–7)
Our 10-level progress report system using the trampoline, mini tramp and floor to teach trampoline and tumbling basics and proper technique.
